Family

I just bought these earrings and love them! And they were only $2 :-) They are very fun! Alex and I went to visit my parents today out in P'ville. It was really nice to see them. We got to hang out, relax, help them with small projects and look at photos. Mom found some photos tucked away in a closet and pulled them out. A photographer took these a long time ago and I love them! So I scanned them in and touched them up a bit. What do you think? My mom is still just as beautiful as she looks in this photo!

I think I still look the same...stubby nose, chubby cheeks, mischievous smile...

And a cute photo of AJ and I :-) Do you see the resemblance? I don't

I know Kelly will recognize this photo. This was before I was doing wedding photography legitimately. This was at my good friends', Ludin and Jen, wedding. They asked me to take a few photos like this after the ceremony and I was more than happy to oblige! I didn't have a flash at this point so I had to do it without a flash. The photo looks much better with this "aged" finish to it as it's a bit blurry. I still really love this photo!

A rough day at work....

...leads to wine and sushi for dinner! Let me just say I am SO friggin' glad tomorrow is Friday! Short post, I've had a few glasses and am way too lazy to write up something meaningful

Snow!

It snowed today! A lot! I had a horrendous time getting into work this morning but otherwise I really enjoyed the snow. I live 7 miles from my office and what usually takes me 15 minutes took 1 hour. It was unbelievably bad.

I took some photos when I got home. I really wanted to put my macro to use for snowflakes but by the time I got home, it was sleet and not snowflakes. Oh well, next time. For some reason, my blog is turning these photos the wrong way but you get the idea...

This is a log that I just thought had pretty lines and I liked the color. It looked freshly cut

And a random wedding photo. Cute little wedding favor. I like the lighting here

There's no place like home

I love this little girl. She was doing this while watching the bride go down the aisle in her beautiful, flowing gown. Clearly this little girl was imagining herself walking down the aisle too. So precious! And don't you love her shoes?! Super cute glittery shoes :-)

Snow tomorrow, woohoo!

Oooey-gooey

Well, it's that time of the week we all hate...Sunday night. Monday is tomorrow and nobody likes Mondays. But I decided to ease myself into the new week :-) So I made chocolate chip cookies. It's a recipe I've been wanting to try for a long time but have put it off. Here's the weird thing, I always think store bought cookie dough makes much better cookies than from scratch. Every time I try to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch, they really aren't very good. Not to mention our shitty little apartment oven burns them every time. Well this time I was extra careful to do this recipe right and keep a close eye on the cookies.

Just look at the picture (do yourself a favor and click on the photo to see it full size) and tell me you could resist a cookie like that! This specific recipe made 4 HUGE cookies! And I mean huge! These are by far the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had and made. They were crispy on the outside and oooey-gooey on the inside...so in a word, delicious and just what I need to get ready for the week! I think Alex enjoyed them too :-) He could hardly wait for them to cool. We've been working really hard to eat well again (he's doing a Biggest Loser competition at work and I just eat well to support him) but sometimes you just need a big-ass cookie!

It was a good weekend :-) No more word about our house but it's coming up on 2 weeks since we put in the offer so hopefully we'll get some news soon. Also, they're calling for snow on Tuesday and Wednesday but flurries all week! Woohoo! Things are looking up

Happy Sunday everyone!

"Sitting here resting my bones"

It's a lazy type of day! It's sunny so I'm basking in it on the bed like a cat. I know this photo is a bit washed out but I kind of like it. I forgot to change the ISO to compensate for the sunshine and lack of flash but it works for me.

Sorry for the lack of self-portraits lately. There was a hammie crisis 2 nights ago. One of my hamsters is a big bully and picks on the others (her sisters). I had already separated one of them (there are 3) a month or so ago but I picked up one of them and noticed blood on my hands. Turns out she'd torn up her sister's belly and she was bleeding pretty badly. So I had to figure out how to divvy the cage up into 3 sections. She seems to be doing well now though, just has a scab. I think she'll be ok.

We are still waiting to hear about the house. It's so hard to be patient! We want to know :-) Diane has said she feels really good about this sale...the best she's ever felt about a short sale because it's professionally negotiated. The trust is held by 2 banks, Wells Fargo and Wachovia. One of the banks has already accepted our offer so we're just waiting on the other.

I can't remember if I've posted this photo yet. If I have, let me know and I'll replace it. This photo makes me chuckle :-)

Wedding

I'm always amazed at how quickly young children pick up technology. This little girl, probably 6 or 7 years old, had this camera almost all night and was snapping photos of everyone. I peeked over her shoulder a few times and the pictures were actually composed, not just random stuff. Incredible. She was trying to get a picture of me all night and I finally let her but I snapped one as well ;-)

Just wedding photos tonight...and here's another. From the same wedding as above. Nice dance shared between the groom and his mom. I guess this is one of my signature shots. I always try to get this type at weddings. I have a thing for hands I suppose. I think it can show such tenderness

Not feelin' it

I'm so not feelin' my photos right now. I'm in a slump...maybe it's the weather. Actually, I think it's just that my mind is so distracted with the house stuff right now. This is how I spent most of my evening...in my bath robe, relaxing in the sack. For those who haven't experienced it yet, the sack is the most comfortable piece of "furniture" you could ever own. It was one of Alex's first "big" purchases with his first paycheck from Lockheed. It's pretty awesome

Here's a wedding photo from the first wedding I shot. There weren't a whole lot of awesome shots from me at this first one as I was learning so much what with my new flash and everything. This, however, is probably one of my favorite shots of all. The bride and groom were headed off to the reception and Cassidy was on the other side of them snapping photos. I noticed the groom had casually slipped his beer behind his back so as not to ruin Cassidy's photos. Well it turned out he created a great photo op for me! This is such a guy thing to do and I love it :-)

Wow

Has anybody ever had these?! I saw them featured on Unwrapped (Food Network) and have been dying to try them ever since! They are full of marshmallow fluff! Need I refer you to this? If anybody knows where to get these, please tell me :-) Or if you've had them, share the good news with me

On a totally unrelated note, I found this link today to photos from the Inauguration. Pretty amazing stuff. Check them out!

Zzzzz

A bit of a cop-out on tonight's photo. I'm so ridiculously exhausted: I'm going to be getting in bed soon and it's only 10. I snapped this at a wedding as I was heading to the reception room to get some before pictures (before the guests file in). I loved the large mirror.

Inauguration today was amazing. I watched it from work and was just in awe...in awe from the sheer mass of people every time the camera panned out and in awe by the speech and just how monumental this occasion was. No way would I have braved the crowds though. I did it in 2005 and wasn't up for it this year.

This picture was from the same wedding as above. Each table was themed and this one was my favorite! Apparently the groom was a bit of a nerd so they had a binary table. Super cute!

Piney

I found these cute little pine cones while walking around the lake near our apartment complex today! Super cute! I met my parents for lunch in Sterling and got to see it snow for a good few hours! Stuck on the ground too :-) I love snow

While this photo is totally out of focus, I still love it. This was during the toast and obviously the bride was enjoying herself. Adorable :-)

Nerdy

So this is what I'd look like with Alex's glasses, haha. I think they're a bit outdated but he doesn't really wear them except before bed. Otherwise he wears contacts. I feel lucky to not have to fool with glasses or contacts...at least not for the next 30 years or so, I hope!

This photo always makes me laugh. What happened was that the chick caught the bouquet and the dude caught the garter. Turns out the two were a couple and very amused by the fact! Then they enjoyed a very drunken dance together

Bored

I'm bored with my photos right now and need inspiration!

Awesome wedding photo! The bride got him a Wii for a wedding gift and he clearly loved it! Hilarious!

Not wedding related but one of my favorite photos. I took this at a county fair with my parents. I would love to get this enlarged and printed. It is so happy and cheerful. It's been on my computer background for months now!

Where's the snow?

Today was so much colder than yesterday! It was 9 degrees when I drove into work this morning, eeek! I put on as many layers as would fit and still allow me to move. It's always the coldest when we have no precipitation on the way! The ground is frozen solid, prime conditions for sticky snow, and there's not a spec of precipitation in the forecast. So irritating

I've been trying to post more people pictures from weddings but I just had to post this one. It was in a room where the groom and his buddies were getting ready and it looked so delicious! They didn't even dig in! Yummm Yumm!

Brrrrr

Today was definitely the most cold day I've experienced in a long time! My office is a trailer (which doesn't stay super warm) and more so, the whole campus so I spend a lot of time outside! This is all I wish I could have done today...snuggle under a blanket in my warm apartment. Tomorrow will only be worse!

Cutest bride from an early wedding I shot! She was so sweet and so adorable! It was a really neat wedding because along with a typical wedding ceremony, they did the traditional tea ceremony. I had never seen one before and she had a gorgeous Asian inspired dress.

Awww

Ok so no time to take a picture tonight (I know I know...sorry). Just got home from Alex's parents' place and it's time for me to go to bed. But I shall not leave you photo-less! The picture above is my friend from college and her baby boy, Brennan. He was so precious and such a joy to shoot! He was so captivated by my camera. I just love this photo to pieces. There were many other cute ones but this is my favorite. The others are all on my photobucket account if interested.

And as promised (as always), a wedding photo. Self explanatory...cute groom, cute picture!

"Unnecessary"

Ok, I usually don't post links to other stuff in my blog, but I came across this blog today and thought it was hysterical!

The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation

Enjoy!

Finally

Just a standard photo for tonight. I feel like it describes my mood well right now. I passed the second portion of the ACMT exams so I'm extremely relieved! I got all kinds of kudos throughout the day and my boss printed up a cute sign that he put on my door saying: "Desktop Support is so PROUD of Marley for becoming ACMT certified! Thanks Marley!" I thought it was really nice of him. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

So now the next best news we're waiting on is the house :-) That will probably take a while but I can be patient. For now, I'm pretty content.

Here's a wedding photo. Awesome dessert at this wedding and I don't even know what it was! Usually I sneak at least some wedding cake but this was early in the game and my snatching skills weren't quite as good as they are now! Just ask Cassidy ;-) All he'd have to say to me is, "hey Mar, see that beef on a stick? Think you can get one?" A minute later, I'd have two in my hand.

Happy Tuesday!

Wiiiiii

Ever since Alex and I began talking about selling our Wii, we've been playing it even more than ever! We have fierce bowling competitions nearly every night! We're both well above the pro level and fight each other for the highest score. We're gettin' pretty good! Who knows if we'll sell it now...

And for wedding photos. Here's one from the first wedding I shot and I really like the composition of these photos. The bride was gorgeous and the couple was just a lot of fun! I snuck this shot while they were enjoying some wine after the ceremony

This is just a simple shot of the bride's bouquet. This would have been much better with the macro lens I just got, but not bad for my 28-135mm lens (I LOVE that lens too!). It's a really good all-around lens.

Tomorrow is the second half of my ACMT exams and I'm a bit nervous. You might argue I should be studying but I'm pretty studied out.

Alex and I got some good news on our house today: our contract was ratified by the seller which means now we play the waiting game with the banks. It will probably be several weeks before we know if we actually got the house. We beat out the other offer though so we're feeling pretty good about it!

Paperwork

With all this house stuff Alex and I have been doing, it has come with an indefinite amount of paperwork. This is exactly what I feel like doing with all this paperwork! This is one contract that we rescinded so that's why I'm throwing it in the air. First attempt didn't work so well. I tried throwing the whole bunch and you can see it just stuck like that until it almost hit me in the head. Second attempt was much better...

Thee papers I shall levitate, haha.

Anyway, here's another wedding photo from early in the gigs. I love this photo to pieces because the little girl was just so freakin' cute! Don't you love it?!

And I took this photo this morning with my new macro lens. Click on the photo to truly see the detail...seriously. Cuz otherwise, it just looks like any other photo. I hope everyone had a great weekend! Alex and I find out tomorrow morning if the seller will ratify our contract or the other that was put in at the same time as ours. Eeeek!

iPod

Yesterday I passed the first half of a certification exam for the Apple Certified Macintosh Technician. So I figured it would only be appropriate to portray myself as if I'm hip and trendy in an iPod commercial ;-) I will be taking the second half of the exam on Tuesday and it will be much more difficult.

Today Alex and I put another offer on a house. We are really hoping for this one! The last one fell through but this one seems promising. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed!

MACRO!

My new 50mm Macro combination lens just showed up! Woohoo! So excited! It was ridiculously on sale so I couldn't resist. So I'm definitely departing from my "theme" but I wanted to do this as my photo for tonight as I'm blown away by this lens. This photo is completely unedited. I can't say I've seen my eye at that detail, haha. Just click on the photo and you'll see what I mean! If you look even closer, you can see my arms and camera reflected in my eye!

And here's a picture of Biscuit enjoying the peanut butter we gave her. She always seems to forget just how sticky P.B. is and gets hung up licking it from the roof of her mouth. So silly and fun to watch!

And lastly, here's another wedding photo. This is probably one of my favorite photos of all. It was getting to the part of the night where everyone is pretty wasted, the cake has been cut (the cue for the older folks to go home), and the real raunchy dancing begins! One of the bridesmaids had left this on the table and I thought it encompassed a wedding reception in a way. None of the girls ever end up wearing their heels all night (except for Veronica, my maid of honor) and there is almost always Red Bull involved! Cuz let's admit it, it's a long-ass night!

Anyway, I'm taking the Apple Certified Macintosh Technician exam tomorrow morning so it's about time I head off to finish cramming. I've heard it's a doozy! Wish me luck!
