Girls only

Last night I had a girls-only dinner at my place.  That's a peppermint truffle pie pictured above!  It doesn't look so pretty but it was delicious
 I also made peppermint martinis

I've never been much of a decorator but I was pretty proud of these place-cards
It was great to see my girls and catch up!

For years, my family has been attending the Thompson's (my sister-in-law's family) Christmas Eve party.  They always have a ton of food and lots of people over
Alex and I came out for it and we went with mom and dad
And stuffed our faces with delicious food

When we came home, another critter was pigging out!  This raccoon has been eating all the squirrel and bird food
 He was a fat guy
On Christmas morning, mom, dad, AJ and Kyle came over for gifts and cinnamon rolls

Then it was off to dinner at Alex's parents'.  Marie made these adorable place cards
Quite the dessert spread at Kyle's parents' house

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Surprise Party

This past Tuesday was a surprise party for a friend of mine from college.  He claimed he'd never had a surprise party so his wife threw one together for him.  Here is everyone anxiously awaiting his arrival!
I think his wife, Whitney, was most excited :-)
 Greeted with a Hurricane
They love each other; for real, y'all
Mike also is working on finishing his Masters
 The Gagnon family and Whitney
Sean strikes a pose; slightly reminiscent of Steve Carrel on the cover of 40 Year Old Virgin
A very sleepy baby :-) Not bothered at all by the debauchery
Of course there was some chugging
 And some hugging
And some chocolate fountain glugging (that's totally a word!), haha

Happy Birthday, Mike!  It was great seeing everyone

Random assortment

So, just a random assortment of photos here.  I have had this gigantic gold-framed mirror for almost a year now and it had just been leaning against the wall.  My brother hung it up for me and I love it!  I especially love how it reflects the tree we painted on the adjacent wall
It's the holidays, which means lots of baking!  Cupcakes included
 One of our tree
Can you believe Christmas is less than a week away?  This year really got away from me.

On an unrelated note; I pass my A+ Certification Exams today!  Feels pretty good to have that out of the way

Annual cookie bake off!

This past Saturday was our annual cookie bake!  My mother in law hosts and a bunch of us (this year it was my mom, Veronica, Kyle, and myself) bake cookies all day!
First on the list were chocolate gooey butter cookies; a Paula Deen special so you know there's a lot of butter in them
 LOTS of supplies
You can't have a cookie bake-off without a stand mixer; seriously
So hard to resist eating all of them

That's right; we not only  had 1 mixer, but two!

Making cookies is serious business as Roni and Kyle work together to mix some dough
 Me and my girl, Roni!
Mom's recipe; which was absolutely killer!

Anyone who knows me well knows I can't resist a beater
 The spread!
We made 6 or 7 different cookies; all equally delicious!  It is always one of my favorite days of the year.  I can't wait for Christmas
