Good news

So, I just got the quote from Canon to fix my camera and it's not too bad. I should have it back in less than 7 days. I'm looking forward to having it back though I must say I'm a bit nervous since the charge doesn't include any parts so it seems it's a software issue? Either way, I hope Canon's work is guaranteed

Other good news, my brother is now Doctor Cooper! I got to sit in on his defense today in Charlottesville and while I didn't understand most if it, I enjoyed watching AJ give his presentation. He is an excellent speaker and handled himself very well! Congrats AJ!

That darn fox again

Last night the fox showed up again at 2am. This time there were two of them. It sounded like someone was being murdered, yikes

My poor camera

Well, it is a sad day but I am sending my camera to Canon today to have it repaired.  I'm not sure what's wrong with it but it's becoming unusable for weddings.  Needless to say, my blog will be relatively out of commission until I get my camera back.

Wolf Trap wedding

Today I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding at Wolf Trap in Vienna.  Above are some teaser shots from the day.  Ryan and Ginny are a lovely couple and I had a blast shooting their wedding!  Congrats guys!

There are some beautiful pink roses on campus that are in bloom right now

They brighten up a dreary day like today!

Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival

On Sunday, Alex and I drove up to Gettysburg to meet my parents for the end of the Bluegrass Festival, featuring Alison Krauss as the headliner.  I have been such a fan of Alison Krauss for quite some time and finally got to see her in concert.

In the picture above, Alex is swinging on these odd swings that you worked by pumping your arms....horribly inefficient if you ask me

I think the concert takes place in this person's property.  Pretty awesome old house

That's the stage down at the bottom

Alex and mom enjoying the nice day

Alison Krauss finally on stage!

She was amazing!

There were some other bands we saw that were also good; one being the Infamous String Dusters.  I particularly liked them because they looked like they were our age.  There were about 6 of them

DryBranch Fire Squad was also there, another great bluegrass band.  I have actually seen them before and enjoyed seeing them perform again.

Hail, oh my!

We had a rather intense hail-storm today!  I have never seen hail so big.

It peppered the grass

And came in odd shapes

I was afraid it would break through our skylights

New carpet

Today we got new carpeting in the pink room; now AJ and Kyle's room.  I am so happy to see that pink carpet gone...I'm sure Kyle is too!

It's very soft and nice on the feet

Much nicer!

I also picked up some bamboo flooring for our basement; which we are planning to turn into a media room.  That's a small pic of what the flooring looks like.  I'm stoked to put this stuff down, it looks great!  It should be a breeze too since it's click-lock flooring so you snap it together. Nice stuff

Mrs. Margaret's Gardens

On my way to work, I pass a large plot of land off Lawyer's Road.  It is within walking distance from my house and I have always wanted to check it out!  Tonight, Alex, AJ, Kyle and I made the trek to check out Margaret Thomas' Gardens.  It is full of peonies and irises

There are so many varieties

Wonderful colors

You can barely see the old barn

I got lost in a field of iris

The peonies were my favorite!  Some were almost as big as my head!

The love-birds

There were two poppies in the whole field

I love poppies

The sun began to set and it cooled off...time to go home

And time for piggy-back-rides ;-)

Not a bad way to cap off a Friday evening
