I found this article today and I think it's a great one for anyone to read who is interested in photography. I try to explain this to people but it's hard to get people to look past the marketing of More Megapixels = Better Pictures!!

It was so nice today! So when I got home, I decided to take a walk around the lake to get some photos. There weren't as many people out as I expected. I enjoyed watching the geese and snapped these shots.
I saw this cute little bunch of goose feathers that looked like they came from a young goose. They were very fluffy!
Then the sun began to go down in the sky and blacked out most of my shots but cast a beautiful glow on the water. I loved the ripples behind the geese.
Tomorrow is Friday, woohoo!!

I stayed home today since I'm still sick. I feel a bit better but I'm definitely not completely over this cold or virus or whatever it is. It was a nice lazy day but tomorrow it's back to work
I spoke with Alex's and my real estate agent today because it was our deadline for the bank. At this point we can give the bank notice that we are backing out and they have 3 days to give us an answer. We haven't done so because our agent feels confident we are going to get a "yes". We are getting so close! It's been a long, hard wait...we are definitely ready for an answer.

I am still sick...and feeling particularly crappy tonight...although my nails are fabulous (I did them yesterday). Alex just got me a Frosty so I'm feeling a bit better now. It sure is making my throat feel better.
Alex and I saw the "Pig Farm" today at 1st Stage. It was utterly ridiculous but quite amusing! I've been speaking with Peter about the possibility of me showcasing some of my photos there for one of the shows. He seems down with it so I plan on going thru my photos more carefully soon.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I'll post more tomorrow if I'm up to it

At nearly 10pm and I'm here in the apartment alone. Alex is at work...this is what it's been like all week. It makes the week hard. I only get to see him an hour or two a day. I wake up for work at 7 and he doesn't have to be in until noon or later so he sleeps in. I go to bed at 10:30 and sometimes he comes home then. It gets lonely but fortunately it's just this week...so far.
So I've had a few glasses of wine and a few bottles of beer...at least I don't feel my sore throat anymore :-) It's been a long week
Have I posted this photo before? I apologize if I have. I just love this photo! What else screams ritzy except a wedding at the Ritz and a stretch Hummer. I love that I was able to capture both in one photo

I hate Cox with a passion! We have had nothing but trouble with our TV service since we signed up for it almost a year ago. We pretty much only watch HD channels and they are very spotty. It is rare that a TV show isn't interrupted by the channel cutting out or being fragmented. Whenever we try to record a show to our DVR box, it only records about half of the time. Most of the time it just shows a blank screen when we try to play it back. We've had 3 technicians come out and none of them have been able to help us. So I called Cox tonight to see if we can get some of our money back because we are paying $140 a month for TV service we're just not getting. She tells me they don't guarantee the HD channels because they are free (even though you have to buy other packages to get HD). So I asked her if we could get rid of the basic channels since we don't watch them and just have HD. She responded by saying you have to keep the basic to get HD...so I guess they're not free, are they? So she offered to give me a "customer courtesy one time gift" of $10. Oh how generous of you Cox. That won't even cover 10% of my monthly bill. I hate Cox. So there's my rant...
Tomorrow is Friday...good thing! I'm bummed though because Alex has to work on Saturday afternoon even though he's been working the late shift all week. So it's been a week of me hardly seeing Alex...I usually see him about an hour a day now. It stinks :( And still no news on the house...
Here's a close up of the flowers Alex got me a few days ago. Stargazer lilies are my favorite :-)

I've been wanting to try working with light trails for a while now. I finally decided to huff-it down to the highway with my camera and give it a try. I wish I had a wide angle lens as I think the effect would be much cooler as the cars whiz by me. I got a lot of weird looks from people sitting in the turn lane ;-) I also think this would be better from high upon a bridge or something. I will try it another time but this was my first attempt...

Well, I went to the Doctor today (Student Health on campus; they're some of my main clients so they all know me well) and they said they don't think I have strep. She said I probably just picked up whatever virus is going around and it's only manifesting itself as a sore throat. So while it's good that I don't have strep, it stinks because that means I just have to wait it out. I have been trying everything to make my throat feel better but almost nothing has worked. This is one of the worst sore throats I've experienced so I'm desperate for anything. I've tried cough drops, gargling warm salty water, hot tea with honey (feels good but not long lasting), and gum (surprisingly that works the best so far). I picked up this "Tylenol Warming" stuff that I'm hoping will just knock me out tonight.
Here's to warmer times...

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Alex and I had a somewhat unusual Valentine's Day and spent it with lots of friends. We had a great lunch at Ledo's pizza and then got donuts at Fractured Prune. Then we showed Ludin and Jen our possible home-to-be! The door was still unlocked so we got to show them around the house. We should find out for sure if we get it this upcoming week. It's hard to believe! (I took the above photo when my flash wasn't ready but I liked how it turned out and decided to keep it)
Anyway, I had plans to make lasagna and caprese salad for dinner but since we had so much yummy stuff all day, we skipped it and I decided to just make some chocolate covered strawberries. They were incredibly simple! Next time I'll probably dip them in white chocolate too since Alex likes white chocolate. They are pretty tasty :-)

I thought I'd be a bit nerdy tonight and take a photo with my super awesome retainer in. You may be surprised to learn that I wear this thing religiously! I NEVER want to have braces again! I also have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth that you never see as it is cemented behind my teeth. It's a nuisance but keeps my teeth straight. I'm off to Bridge's tonight to see Connie, whom I haven't seen since my wedding, and is in town from Texas! I'm so excited to see her! And then tomorrow, some of Alex's and my friend's are coming into town from New York. We also haven't seen them since the wedding. It will be a good weekend! I plan on making lasagna, caprese salad and chocolate dipped strawberries for tomorrow :-)
Happy Hammie is Happy!

Today was actually a really good day! I was very busy at work, which I usually like because the days go by faster. I went to a Staff-Alumni reception that was pretty nice...even tho I was easily 20 years younger than the rest of the people there. The weather wasn't bad either.
Then I came home, Alex and I ordered Thai (day still good obviously!)...then I find a memory card from a wedding we shot 4 months ago and it definitely had photos that went missing...then I found a staple (yes a staple!) in my Thai! WTF? I was crunching down on something really hard and finally fished it out to find a partially opened staple...a big one too! And lastly, I was trying to watch The Office while cleaning our santuko knife and SLICE! I cut my finger!
So I will re-iterate my first statement...Well shoot! At least tomorrow is Friday :-)

I was growing a bit tired of shots of my face...so I'm leaving it out tonight. You don't usually see my legs so there ya go. This pictures makes me realize just how gross this tub is in our apartment...oh well, at least we won't be here too much longer.
What's up, Tony Soprano? I couldn't resist catching this guy

This is symbolic of me at work. I deal with a lot of people that simply drive me insane with their constant questions and problem...the type of people who refuse to try to learn but use me as a crutch. They like to be babied and sometimes that drives me nuts. I have to bite my tongue
My drug of choice...
Today wasn't all bad :-) Some client's just really rub me the wrong way

So I've been trying to read my new book, "Atlas Shrugged". It was a Christmas present 2 years ago and I've just now become bold enough to start it. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble sticking with it. I really want to get through it but it's tough. I also have a problem of trying to read two books at once. The other book I'm reading is "Survivor" by Chuck Palahniuk.
Just some simple wedding photos. I dug these up from some finished photos that I hadn't really gone through completely. They were sent to the client but I forgot to save them for myself for later use.
I would like to do a series of photos based on songs suggested by those of you who read this. If you have a song you'd like me to try to portray, lemme know. I'm runnin' outta ideas here!

Today was BEA-u-tiful! I hope everyone got outside today! Alex and I had a nice walk over to Whole Foods for breakfast and then walked around the lake near our apartment. I wanted to feed the geese so we went back to our apartment to get some bread. We were feeding them for about 20 minutes when suddenly something spooked them all (mind you, we are surrounded by these things) and they all started flying away. We ducked in fear of getting dive-bombed by a ton of scared birds! Then we look to our right and see a dog barrelling straight for them! He dove into the lake to chase them. And of course I didn't have my camera. I could kick myself for deciding not to bring it: "Oh, I've taken some photos of the geese, I'll just skip it this time". Damnit! I could have gotten some really great shots cuz this dog was having a blast just jumping into the water to harrass these birds. Oh well, it was amusing nonetheless.
I think I have something for hands. I love to take pictures of hands especially when the bride is getting ready. Sometimes you can tell just how nervous/anxious she is by what she's doing with her hands. I also like to get pictures of people holding hands while dancing. I guess that's one of my staple shots...there are many more but I particularly like this one.
And just a beautiful shot of a cute polka dotted wedding dress. Adorable :-) Worn by the bride pictured (well, her hands) above.
Cassidy has offered me the chance to shoot a few more weddings with him this year and I couldnt' be happier to help him out! Shooting weddings with him was just a blast!

I've had my nose pierced for almost 4 years now and I never wear an actual ring in it. I don't quite like the look of it as much as the small stud but I thought I'd take a photo of it so others can see. It's alright but not the best look for me.
Roni and I are off to the DC Improv to see Ben Bailey from Cash Cab do stand up tonight! I'm so stoked! I love this guy. Apparently he did stand up for a long time before he got discovered for Cash Cab. We are also hitting up this awesome pizza joint for dinner beforehand. It's going to be a good night :-)
This photo makes me laugh! I think they were a couple (with a little girl) and he had caught the garter and she the bouquet...this seems to happen a lot. Anyway, I guess he was "inspecting" her butt, haha. If you see me with a camera, watch out because I miss nothing!

What do you think of my new lip color? It's called Red Velvet :-) Actually, it wouldn't be half bad...nice name too! So I made the mini cupcakes tonight. It took me several hours but with Alex in bed with the flu, I was able to work on it all evening. It was fun! And hard!
What amazed me most was the Red Velvet cake mix. When you dump this stuff out of the box, it's brown just like chocolate cake mix...add water and BAM, bright red cake mix! It was the strangest thing I'd seen!
So here's a yummy morsel for you! I don't think I'd make these again, or if I did, I'd vary them. I'm not a huge fan of white chocolate so the top didn't really appeal to me but that bottom (semisweet chocolate) was delicious! Doesn't that just look awesome?
And a little more cupcake-porn for ya...

So I've made myself take a picture. I'm still not 100% yet but I'm feeling better. I'm slowly working my way back to eating food again. My stomach seems especially sensitive to food right now so I'm being cautious. Anyway, there's this recipe I've been wanting to try for forever that Alex's mom sent me. She knows how much I love cupcakes so she forwarded a blog post to me that had this picture...
Thanks to Bakerella for the photo! So I am DYING to make these and have decided that tomorrow is the day because Alex has to work late so I'll have all evening to work on them. Hence the photo of me with the 150 pack of lollipop sticks. Sort of overkill, I know but that's the smallest package they sold. I guess I'll have to keep making them in the future :-) I hope they turn out as cute as in the picture. All I know is I'm so stoked to make them!

Sorry for the lack of photos/posts the past few days. I have picked up a stomach virus and haven't had the time to take care of pictures. Today I came home early from work, just in the nick of time...and I've been sleeping the rest of the day away. Hopefully I'll be back on my feet again soon. I'm not sure if I've posted these yet: if I have, forgive me. I'm putting them up in hopes of an early spring :-)
